Experience a virtual balloon ride over Karlsruhe of the year 1834. The installation „Super Nubibus" will be on display at new.New Festival in Stuttgart from 8th until 10th of October.
Get Started!Fly over historical Karlsruhe and explore the city and its surroundings in a minimalist aesthetic, based on authentic architectural models. Take control of the balloon's burner and determine how far you are flying over the buildings. Feel the fresh breeze blowing around your neck and the warmth of the blower that radiates from above. But the most important part is: Enjoy the view.
BackgroundOur model shows the city of Karlsruhe in 1834. We would like to thank Dr. Günther-Diringer, professor in Geoinformation Management at the University of Applied Sciences Karlsruhe, for providing the basic geometry as a basis for our further work. For the installation, it was heavily reworked and supplemented, among other things, by vegetation to create a fluid, atmosheric and immersive VR expierence. This is further supported by the physical aswell as virtual ballon basket and the accompanying sensory stimuli like sound, heat, vibrations. This allows visiter to hear the birds, feel the heat of the burner, enjoy the diving plesure and see the recurring solid ground beneath their feet when landing.
